This study aims to analyze representations of female athletes in the two main newspapers in Finland during the olympics 1968 in Mexico City and Beijing 2008. The included newspapers are Helsingin Sanomat and Hufvudstadsbladet. Materials have been collected for a ten day period both years. In 1968 the representations has been very gender specific and a change has happened when looking at representations in the newspapers in 2008. However, female athletes are still represented in traditional ways and treated as women instead of just athletes.
