    Objectives. The purpose of this home economics study was to describe the acculturation of immigrant families‘ food habits in Finland. The aim of the study was to find out about change and preservation of food habits and the factors affecting them. 1. What changes have occurred in immigrants‘ eating habits after moving to Finland What factors have affected the changes? 2. What features of domestic eating habits have remained after moving to Finland? What factors have contributed to the preservation of the features? Methods. The data was collected by using semi-structured themeinterview. Five immigrant women with family participated in the study. The research method was theorybased content analysis. Results and conclusion. The study shows that there have been acculturation of food habits of families on different levels. Out of the meals breakfast had received most finnish influences, because the families mentioned they eat porridge and rye bread. Because of school and job meals lunch had also received finnish influences. Meal rythm was changed due to a different rhythm of life. At dinner families tried to prepare dishes from their own culture. Ethnic shops had the greatest impact on the preservation of old food habits, because families told that they found everything they needed there. Reasons for changing food habits include healthiness, changed family composition, school meals and Finnish friends.
