    The purpose of this study is to find out what kind of targets for the design set on the basis of the national core curriculum 2014 with regard to craft education. In addition, the study evaluates the craft teacher views on the design goals in craft education. The new national core curriculum 2014 related research about design has not been previously published. The research questions were limited to two questions that are answered best to the phenomenon under scrutiny. The purpose of this study was to find out what kinds of goals set for the design and crafts criteria with regard to the national core curriculum in 2014 as well as how to craft teacher feels the targets set for the design. The research data was used national core curriculum 2014 and interview material. The research was interviewed one textile craft teacher. It was theme interview. The data were analyzed by inductive analysis. The national core curriculum 2014 and craft teacher interview analysis results were similarities. Design as part of the holistic craft was considered important to both primary. Culture and own experience of the world and the use of information and communication technology were found to be an integral part of the design process. National core curriculum 2014 highlighted the creative expression and self-esteem development. This result did not show the interview data analysis. Creativity and self-esteem development do not exist on the basis of this research in targets for the design in practical craft education as they are set in national core curriculum 2014. The results of the study cannot be generalized, but the results can be used in future planning studies.
