    My Bachelor’s Thesis’ research assignment was to describe, analyze and interpret explanations given on why there are so few women executives and what can be done about it. The aim was also to link the results to Finnish context. I used a fourfold table to categorize the articles used. The four categories were: equality, meritocracy, alternative values and the special skills of women. I did my Bachelor’s Thesis as a literature review, where I tried to get results to my research questions with two different keyword combinations. I used University of Helsinki’s search engine Helka Finna. My material consisted of 9 articles, which I analyzed by content analysis. The results showed, that there are many explanations and solutions for the scarcity of women executives and one can’t name only few reasons on why there are fewer women than men executives. I grouped the results for explanations under three categories: organizational, social and personal barriers.
