This bachelor’s thesis is about a playroom in one store. Because of the store’s and the playroom’s workers’ privacy, the play area will be called as ”a Playroom”. This bachelor’s thesis studies motivation and thoughts of the staff working in the Playroom. The main idea of this study is to maintain and upgrade Playroom’s workers’ professional skills, and what more, to bring their understanding of young children’s’ psychological development to a new and deeper level. I believe this could help their working with different kind of children and parents and meeting every child as an individual. Main themes in this thesis are temperament theory, 3–7-old child’s psychological development, and interaction between the workers and children and also between the workers and children’s families. The main focus in the theory base is in temperament theories and in the importance of adult’s sensitivity when meeting children and their parents. This thesis’ study is mainly qualitative. I gathered the exploratory material with a questionnaire which included half opened and half closed questions, so the participators could answer more specifically to some questions. I used a qualitative research content analysis as a method when analyzing the exploratory. Mainly sensitivity can be seen in every Playroom’s worker in their answers, even though some were more sensitive than others. When asked about need of education about working with children, most of the participators thought that education would give them more security when meeting children and their parents. Let’s see how this bachelor’s thesis affects the Playroom workers’ thoughts about their work and about children’s minds.
