    The aim of this study was to investigate according to the literature children’s motivation in physical education and in sport. In addition, the point of this study was to compare factors that affected children’s motivation in physical education and in sport. Previous studies have shown that autonomy, competence and social-relatedness have had a positive effect on motivation. Also ego-orientation and task-orientation have had an effect on development of motivation. Previous studies also shown that especially enjoyment and competence have a big positive effect on children’s motivation. The data of this study was collected on Finnish and international studies on physical education and sport. Conclusions in this study was that children’s motivation towards physical education and sport was good. The most important factors regarding physical education were competence and enjoyment. Competition and teacher’s feedback effected the enjoyment in the class. The excess competitiveness effected the motivation negatively. Task-oriented motivational climate increased the motivation in physical education and sport. Competitiveness was linked to sport but in the other hand can’t be the primary goal of the children’s sport. Enjoyment was also important factor in children’s sport according to the literature.
