The purpose of this study is to exam factors affecting dual careers, especially factors relating to educational side of it. Dual career means combining education and sports career simultaneously. Sports career at the higher levels and education have traditionally been seen exclusive to each other in Finland. Even tough sports career is relatively short and on the other hand education is often key for many important fields in our society. Aim of this study is to find out, which factors relating to education, influence development of dual careers. The study has been done by qualitative method. The data is collected from interviews, done for three persons working with dual careers. Interviews are made by using basis of half structured and theme interviews. After that, data is analyzed with content analysis as a method. In this study, content analysis is data based. From the interviews, factors affecting dual careers appears very broadly. Meanings in collected data were very diverse and connected to each other. Key findings concerns extent of the matter and quantity of affecting factors. From the data four main categories were made. Those categories were named social factors, individual factors, sports system factors and factors associating school’s motivation. Considering the development of education in dual careers, the factors outside of school are meaningful. On the other hand, schools can also benefit from athlete students
