This paper is a brief look into a, presumably, recent trend in pupils’ classroom behavior. The researh question of this paper is“Has the ability of children to be without external stimulus disappeared or declined considerably?” and basis for the need for this study is from personal teaching experience during which it became apparent that pupils are nearly entirely incapable of merely being without having a task or an activity to do. Due to a lack of prior studies to this particular topic, studies dealing with concentration, the effects classroom digitalization, and the effects of online misbehavior on actual classroom behavior. he study was conducted via a semi-structured interviews with teachers at a primary school in Finland. 8 interviews were conducted in total during a regular school day, to which the questionnaire had been sent to the participants several weeks prior. These interviews were then analyzed by a method of qualitative content analysis, more precisely narrative analysis. The narratives were divided into types and central themes were gathered, from which generalizations were made via inductive logic. The main conclusion of the study was that the ability of studentsto be without external stimulus has disappeared almost entirely. The exact effects of this would require further study, but several suggestions to help keep classrooms more calm in the ensuing restlessness are suggested –extra tasks always available, more structured lessons –as gathered from the teachers’ narratives.
