I studied how good and evil characters are presented in modern fairy tales. Modern fairy tales are fairy tales which are written recentIy, author is known and the stories has only one version. I wanted to know whether good and evil characters were round or flat characters. I also studied how characters goodness or evilness was presented. I studied characters ending, was it happy or unhappy. I compared modern fairy tales to folktales. My studies is qualitative research and I am using content analysis to analyse my material. At my material I used four children books which I categorise as modern fairy tales: Latte-siili Lofooteilla, Monsterijengi: vampyyrijahti, Möbiuksen maa and Uimahallin arvoitus For each book, I analysed one good and one evil character. My studies show that all good characters are round characters. Every evil character except one were simple characters. Good characters take care of other characters and save others. Evil characters were aggressive, destructive and selfishness. For good characters ending was happy and for evil characters ending was unhappy, except for one character.
