Using tablets in education has increased in recent years and in Finland the city of Vantaa acquired tablets to every comprehensive school at the end of the year 2014. Tablets’ benefits and challenges have been researched in previous studies. In this research I examine how tablets have changed teaching from class teachers’ perspective. I also examine how the teachers use tablets in education. My data was collected in March 2016 by interviewing three class teachers. The interviews were semi-structured interviews. In the content analysis the data was categorized into three themes. The study revealed that tablets have become a new teaching method in the class. According to the interviewees tablets are used in environmental and natural knowledge, mathematics and literacy. The most typical ways of working with tablets include searching information, using different learning platforms and playing learning games. The interviewees also use tablets for teaching coding. The interviewees use less tablets in art, English, religion and music. They also do not use tablets for writing. The interviews also revealed that the use of tablets is fraught with practical problems, such as connection to the internet and the use of licenses. The interviewees use the tablets for practicing the present topic, as an additional task and as a reward.
