Despite growing interest in sustainability related to wine consumed in Finland, there has been a notable absence of consumer-focused research regarding the sustainability of wine products in Finland. This gap extends to understanding the relationship between consumer perceptions and wine purchasing behavior intentions. Furthermore, little attention has been given to evaluating the trustworthiness of sustainability claims communicated by the Finnish wine monopoly to consumers through various symbols relating to such claims. This study employs a mixed methods approach that involves analyzing annual reports and online product information, alongside with a consumer survey (n = 100). The aim is to gauge the level of trust consumers place in the sustainability-related information disseminated by the Finnish wine state monopoly. The findings indicate that while sustainability-related attributes hold some degree of importance in purchase intentions, they rank relatively low compared to other attributes surveyed.
