Abstract:
Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a technology architectural model that has been under a lot of attention in the past years. SOA Governance is a subset of IT governance, which itself is a subset of corporate governance. Before an organization implements SOA, it needs to make sure that benefits are higher than costs and therefore launch an SOA initiative. The primary business goal for SOA governance is to ensure that an SOA initiative achieves its targeted business goal. SOA Governance Frameworks provide useful concepts for determining goals and key components for SOA. The goal of this thesis was to generate an SOA governance model for UPM, based on a framework comparison and a set of requirements for SOA governance set by UPM. This thesis discussed the main features of SOA and SOA governance, and compared two different SOA governance frameworks. The result from the comparison was, that although the two frameworks had a lot of same elements, the other one was more detailed and comprehensive, and therefore had more impact on the SOA governance model derived from the framework comparison.
