    This study aims to provide insight on perceptions about programming among class teachers and class teacher students. Today the teaching of programming is part of the curriculum and there are specific challenges when it comes to teaching and learning programming. The subject is interesting, because programming is a polarizing matter when it comes to opinions among teachers, and many seasoned teachers have also had to ponder their approach when it comes to the matter of teaching programming. The research question in this study is: What perceptions do class teaching students have about programming, and what factors have had an impact on the inception of these perceptions? There are previous studies on the subject, which many of have been used as sources on this study. There is also a lot of foreign research on the subject that has been widely cited. The material has been gathered by the semi-structured interview method, and the interviews have been executed either face to face or by phone. The material has been analyzed via discourse analysis. Discourse analysis was used on the analysis of the material. This study found that class teachers and class teacher students consider programming and the teaching of programming a rather difficult subject, and a question about needing more resources on teaching the subject during class teacher studies arises. The results of this study can be used for further research on the subject, and it will be interesting to see if perceptions change when time goes by.
