    The goal of this thesis is to introduce the isoperimetric inequality and various quantitative isoperimetric inequalities. The thesis has two parts. The first one is an overview of the isoperimetric inequality in R^n and some of the known quantitative isoperimetric inequalities. In the first chapter we introduce the isoperimetric inequality and show some possible methods of proving the isoperimetric inequality in R^n for both n=2 and n≥3. In the second chapter we discuss some known quantitative isoperimetric inequalities as well as their proofs. The second part of the thesis is a paper. In this paper we prove a Bonnnesen type inequality for so called s-John domains, s>1, in R^n. We show that the methods that have been applied to John domains in the literature, suitably modified, can be applied to s-John domains. Our result is new and gives a family of Bonnesen type inequalities depending on the parameter s>1.
