By launching a laboratory experiment, this study seeks to examine how a computer-mediated Virtual Interpersonal Touch (VIT) influences people’s perceptions of decision-making in interpersonal strategies within a scenario of economic bargaining in Ultimatum Game. According to previous findings, the results so far indicated that fair offers were almost always accepted, but the rate of acceptance declined with increasing degrees of unfairness regardless of computer-mediated modalities and group differences. The mediated touch had little effects on people´s decision-making, but it generally served to increase the acceptance rate compared to no touch condition. Interaction between groups and offer sizes implied a significant contribution to recipients’ response. Basically, individuals accepted more offers from an in-group member than they did from an out-group member; unfair offers in particular were accepted more often when they were made by friends, not strangers. Gender also showed different impacts when offer size changed: compared to male participants, female tended to accept more offers when they were not extremely unequal.
