Emotions are an important part of us. The Finnish Early learning curriculum (2016) discusses about emotions, self-regulation and also how feelings affect learning. Children need adult guidance and support to learn these things. Children`s picture books are means to learn and to pass on va-rious knowledge (Heikkilä-Halttunen, P., 2010, 10). This is why it is so important to stop and see these books in a new way. The purpose of this thesis was to determine what kind of emotions Kris-tina Louhi`s Aino books contain, how these emotions are displayed and is it diverse. The data of this thesis consists of six books from Aino book series written by Kristiina Louhi. The books have been written and illustrated between years 1984-1996. The thesis was qualitative and the research methods were content differentiation and content analysis. With content differentiati-on I was able to get the data into a more organised form. Content analysis helped me to find ans-wers to the research questions. The result is that Aino books included diverse scale of different emotions. The emotions were for the most part positive. There was example a lot of happiness, joy and closeness. Elements which point to emotions were found both in written and visual data. Regardless more reference to emoti-ons were found in visual data
