    The design process of a Sloyd subject consists of six different stages: ideation, technical, visual design, production and evaluation. The purpose of design process is to emphasize important skills such as creative problem solving and to conceive learner’s own idea. The aim of this research is to describe the design process as a whole, and challenges it may bring to the Sloyd subject context. Theoretical part of the research is created with the help of previous researches and National Core Curriculum of the Sloyd education. The research data has been collected with a survey and one interview. The target group of the survey and the interview included selected number of Sloyd teachers. The interview was held in February 2016 and survey was carried out in April 2016. Questions in the survey were based on the interview and it got 15 respondents. Teacher’s views on the design process were important in order to get diverse understanding how this process functions at the Sloyd subject. The results indicate the content of Sloyd education design process. Furthermore, the results also clarified challenges which design process bring to teacher’s guidance. Research showed that design process exist at the Sloyd education, but in order to work well it needs deeper understanding of the process and pupil’s interest towards the design process. The results aimed to increase meaning of the design process and how it affects learning outcomes of Sloyd education.
