Previous studies have shown that the classroom management is a significant part of the teacher's work. On the other hand, classroom management problems have a negative impact on the ability of Finnish teachers to work and stay in the industry. Despite the importance of the subject, there has been little research in Finland and from limited perspectives. The purpose of this bachelor’s thesis is to find out what methods the teachers use to manage the classroom and enable learning and teaching. In addition, I will briefly examine what classroom management methods the teachers use the most generally. My research question is the following: what classroom management methods do teachers use and what methods are the most general? My objective is to add both my own and the reader's knowledge of classroom management and from factors which are related to it. This bachelor's thesis was carried out as a describing literature survey. The material was collected from databases on the internet and libraries. The research material was selected from a diverse set of sources. I used domestic studies, international studies and other related literature to find answers to my research question. Based on this literature review the classroom management methods used by teachers can be divided into proactive and reactive methods and consequences. The reactive methods can be further divided into nonverbal and verbal methods. From the literature I read it appeared that teachers use reactive verbal classroom management methods more often, although based on the researches proactive methods are more effective.
