The Bachelor's Thesis examines the sustainable everyday consumption choices and arguments for those of home economics teacher students. In the national core curriculum of basic education, the aim of home education is, for example, to develop knowledge, skills, attitudes and capacity building for sustainable lifestyle and a sustainable everyday life. By being exemplary, teacher can contribute to students sustainable choices. Previous research on the background of sustainable consumption and choices has been done much, but from the point of view of home economics teacher students, no previous research has been found so widely explored. The topic is current because the todays greenhouse gas emissions per person are too high. With everyday choices can affect emissions from, for example, food, housing and traffic. The material of the thesis was collected by writings that were assignments, part of the course of the first-year home economics teacher students. The assignment was to write an informal but as accurate and justified description as they can of sustainable consumption choices that students make in their daily lives. The study group consisted mostly of students of the first year, but there were also some former students and minor students. The material consisted of 38 writings that were analyzed by means of material-based content analysis. The review is limited to choices in food, housing and passenger transport. According to the answers, the home economics teacher students made many different sus-tainable consumption choices in their daily lives. Mentions were found in areas of ecological, social and economic sustainability. Some respondents considered sustainable consumption more than others, but each one of them made sustainable choices in their lives either con-sciously or unconsciously. Of these choices, public transport preference was most often mentioned in the responses. Food choice was influenced for example by price, quality and origin. At housing-related choices student wanted to save electricity, limit water consumption, and use energy-efficient appliances. At passenger traffic student prefered public transport as well as walking and cycling due to those ease, affordability, ecology and their own well-being.
