This research concerns the effects of child's social competence's factors on academic achievement. The interest to do this research began from my personal interest towards the complex construct of social competence. The effects of social competence on child's life are extensive and one of the most important environments for social competence to develop is school. The aim is to gather the results from previous research about what kind of findings the researchers have made about the effects of child's social competence's factors on academic achievement. The target is to provide more information about the topic. The type of this research is a literature review. The data consisted of five research articles that concerned the effects of child's social competence on academic achievement. I used thematizing as the method to analyze the data. I separated two themes from the results of the previous researches based on the factors of social competence that have positive or negative effects on academic achievement. Based on my literature review it seems that good social skills, prosocial behaviour, leadership and behavioral regulation were the factors of social competence that had positive effects on academic achievement. Additionally, good social skills, prosocial behaviour and leadership were connected with higher social status among peers. Problem behaviour and lack of social skills were the factors of social competence that had negative effects on academic achievement.
