    The main aim of this research is to respond to the question how child’s social competence impacts on his status among his peer group. The subject is important because it has to do with everyday life on the field of early childhood education. It also gives tools to understand this phenomenon and develop our professional skills. Researcher’s presumption was that the connection between individual’s social skills and his social status is significant. This research was accomplished as a case study. It is about one preschool group of 21 children at the age of 5-6-years and two kindergarten teachers. As research method was used sociogram and the estimate survey of the teachers. Sociogram clarifies relationships between the children and the social status of every individual. The survey of the teachers, for it’s part, tells about the children’s social ability and skills. At the end these informations were compared between each other. The research results show that there is a connection between the individual’s social status and his social competence. But it can be interpreted that there are also some other factors that impact on how is the status of an individual among his peer group.
