Aim: The aim of this study is to find out what kindergarten teachers think about their impact on children’s language development. Method: The methodology for this study is qualitative interviewed in Southern Finland. The interviews were recorded with a tape recorder and then later transcribed and analyzed Results and conclusions: The survey revealed that teachers consider themselves to have influence on their children's language development and that they also have a responsibility to stimulate children's language development, as an example, through dialogues with the children in everyday situations, reading books and singing songs and rhymes. It also appeared that educators believe that one should use a language that does not introduce the children to foreign words. It’s important to talk individually with each child, but this is however very difficult due to time restraints.
