Goals :In my bachelors degree I am questioning the current educational prison programs and their theoretical framework. The goal is to broaden the rehabilitative idea from inside of the prison walls to outside world. I am trying to find, if the idea of “Desistance” has found its way to Finnish prison system and its rehabilitative programs. Methods: I am interviewing two people responsible for the content of few rehabilitative programs. I analyze my findings via discursive analysis and I am searching for meanings and ideas that refer to either “What Works” -thinking or the idea of “desistance”. Conclusion: The findings show that the idea of general rehabilitation isn’t seen necessary. The problems have to be defined and solved inside prison walls to be able to accredit the programs responsible of the outcome. In reality the true problems lie behind prison walls, where the prisoners would really benefit from support and rehabilitative programs in order to truly separate their ways with criminal behavior.
