Objectives. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore a choir of an organization and its meanings to the choir members. The research question was ‘Which kinds of meanings does choir singing have to the choir members?’. Earlier studies concerning sense of community and choir singing were introduced in the theory chapters. Methods. The material of this study was collected from 8 participants of an organization’s choir. The method used was a focus group interview. The questions asked concerned the meanings of the choir in general, the meanings from well-being point of view, sense of belonging, communication and trust as well as openness. The role of theory was directional in the analysis. Especially the studies written by McMillan and Chavis (1986) as well as Burroughs and Eby (1998) were applied in the analysis. Results and conclusions. The results of this study were categorised into communal meanings and individual meanings. The most important communal results concerned the positive sense of community, co-worker support, openness and trust and negative sense of community. The most important individual meanings concerned relaxation and well-being. This study could be beneficial on the field of work development since it shows the importance of activities at work such as the choir of this study from both collective and individual points of view.
