(2019)This research examines immigrant parents’ experiences of their customership in the day care services. As the empirical data of this qualitative research I have used theme interviews of three parents. Each parent was interviewed personally in cafés or their home in the late 2018 and early 2019. All three parents were active in work life and they had at least a second grade degree from vocational school. Two of them had a master’s degree. The interviews were analysed with theory directed content analysis. As the theoretical framework of this research I have used the theory of othering, social representations and prejudices. In addition, I have used the researches about immigrants at risk of facing prejudices in the Western society due some of their features. The parents who took part in this research did not have those features which is taken into consideration in the contemplation of the results. I have categorized the interviews using Heino’s (2017) model of four different positions as the result of the experiences in social services. The results of this research complied the previous research: the parents’ experiences were overlapping. They could position themselves grateful, mistreated, active or dependent depending on the situation. Most often they positioned themselves grateful, second often mistreated, third often dependent and least often active.
