    The purpose of this study was to identify the reading of children's literature, as well as the placement and accessibility of the books in toddler groups. The research questions were: How children´s literature is read in toddler groups, the situations in which children's literature is read, in what kind of groups children's literature is read and how children's books are positioned and accessible to children in toddler groups. Previous studies have shown that early reading experience, as well as the layout and the availability of children's literature are important factors. This research is quantitative. I collected research data from two Keski-Uusimaa municipalities toddler groups using online questionnaire. In total 46 nurses or kindergarten teachers replied to the questionnaire. The SPSS-software was used for the analysis. The quantitative data was analyzed using frequency tables and correlations. Toddlers´ wonderment and questions were answered during the reading. There were also discussion about the book during the reading. A sense of urgency was felt in varying degrees during the reading. The books were read daily most often during free play, and because of the child's initiative. The morning or day assembly, adult guided activities and rest time shared the answers. Daily the books were read most often with one or two children. Books were within reach of children and accessible to children almost in every toddler groups. Books placement had variation. The books were accessible to children during free play. While sitting on the potty and in the waiting situations, the children were able to read books in many toddler groups. In the beginning of the rest time the books were in varying degrees accessible to children.
