Over the last decades the lifestyle of children has started to evolve in the direction, which does not support the normal development and growth of children. Physical activity has been dropped considerably and the time spent at the technology is increasing. As societies change, the importance of the environment for physical activity is significant. Earlier studies have shown that lifestyles and skills taught in childhood have a great influence on what kind of lifestyles children have in their adulthood. The aim of this research was to study the connection of physical activity of pre-school children to their parent´s physical activity. In addition, the research examined the differences in the physical activity of pre-school aged children. The study was carried out at the Espoo municipal school in the pre-school group. Their activity was measured for five days during the pre-school period using Polar's GoFit activity braces. Sampling was selected from 13 children by the basis that they were present in a measurable week for at least four days. The children were 6-7 years old at the time of the research. Parents activity was measured by a questionnaire where were questions about exercise and activity habits, and the amount of time spent on exercising with their child. IBM SPSS Statistics 24 program was used to analyze the data. Based on the results, the children move very little during the pre-school. The physical activity during the pre-school is mainly light physical activity. Based on the results of the research, the physical activity of the parents and the time spent in physical activity has no connection with the physical activity of children in pre-school. Due to the small sample size, no conclusions can be made from the significance of parental physical activity to the physical activity of children.
