Post-traumatic growth is positive psychological change, that includes, for example, changes in beliefs, goals, behaviour and identity. Post-traumatic growth consist of five subdimensions: increase in appreciation of life, closer relationships, feelings of personal strength, perceiving new opportunities and spiritual development. In my review I examine individual and environmental factors supporting post-traumatic growth. It has been observed that post-traumatic growth has connections to many factors. In my review, the most important factor supporting post-traumatic growth became individuals coping skills, which explain, for example, connection of many personal traits to post-traumatic growth. Other important factors were also traumas conscious cognitive process and connecting it to one owns life narrative. In the future it would be important to examine more causal connections between post-traumatic growth and factors connecting to it. Understanding these connections better helps supporting the growth process of people going through trauma and thus decrease negative effects caused by trauma.
