Introduction: Attentional difficulties are very common among children, and they have negative effects on both children’s learning and development. Currently, there is no evidence-based psychosocial treatment for attentional difficulties. For example, compared to medical treatment of ADHD there are few studies on the benefits of psychosocial treatment in attentional difficulties. There is however need for an evidence-based psychosocial treatment because a significant part of children doesn’t benefit from medical treatment or are unable to use it. Results: Behavioural and cognitive-behavioural therapy, attention training, and neuro rehabilitation are effective in the rehabilitation of children attentional difficulties. Attentional training has positive effects, particularly in sustained and selective attention. Rehabilitation can also be successfully computerized or carried out for example via VR. Conclusions: No single treatment seems currently significantly better than others. Psychosocial rehabilitation can benefit children with attentional difficulties either alone or together with medical treatment. All methods are interrelated by a chance to individualize the treatment and considering how to motivate the children. Most of the research is focused on rehabilitating attention in ADHD compared to other sources of attentional difficulties. Financial resources of psychosocial rehabilitation can be brought down by computerization. Future studies could examine the long-term effects of psychosocial rehabilitation.
